Students from Year 11 classes 11R and 11M at Carmel College, Darlington, came together to prepare and celebrate Mass on the Memorial of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian, Martyrs.
The celebration was made particularly special by the presence of Fr Henry and Fr Kevin, who concelebrated the Mass and joined students in prayer and reflection. Their involvement helped create a meaningful occasion for the school community as students gathered to mark the feast day.
During the Mass, students reflected on the message of the first reading, which reminded them that God's strength can be found even in moments of weakness and uncertainty:
"We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us."
The reading encouraged students to remember that, while challenges and difficulties are a part of life, faith offers hope and reassurance. Inspired by the example of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian, students were invited to remain faithful and allow the life and love of Jesus to shine through their words and actions.
