As we come to the end of another successful academic year, we are incredibly proud of everything our pupils, staff and wider school community have achieved over the past two terms. Carmel College Crowned Town Champions Once Again
There were celebrations all round at Carmel College in Darlington as students were crowned Town Champions once again following another outstanding sporting performance. The achievement is a testament to the dedication, determination and teamwork shown by students throughout the competition, with every participant playing their part in securing the title.
Sister Act Delivers a Heavenly Success at Carmel College
The John Caden Theatre was filled with joy, laughter and applause as Carmel College's production of Sister Act wowed audiences across a series of sold-out performances. From the spectacular opening night to the final curtain call, the production showcased the incredible talent, dedication and teamwork of students both on stage and behind the scenes.
Year 9 Stepping Up Day Celebrated in Style
Students at Carmel College in Darlington enjoyed a truly memorable Year 9 Stepping Up Day, marking an important milestone as they prepare to begin Year 10. The event was filled with celebration, with students coming together to reflect on their journey so far and look ahead to the next stage of their education. The day was described as “absolutely amazing”, creating a real sense of achievement and excitement across the year group.
Team Carmel Crowned Year 8 Town Rounders Champions
Carmel College’s Year 8 girls’ team delivered an outstanding performance at the Town Rounders Tournament, earning the title of champions in a fantastic display of skill and teamwork.
Art from the Heart at Carmel College Exhibition
Carmel College in Darlington hosted a spectacular GCSE and A Level Art, Photography and Textiles Exhibition, bringing together students, families and the wider community to celebrate creativity. The event was extremely well attended, with students, families, staff, alumni and friends all coming together to support the college’s talented young artists.
Year 10 Students Take to the Water on River Tees
Carmel College is celebrating a fantastic outdoor learning experience, as Year 10 Sports Studies students enjoyed an exciting kayaking session on the River Tees. Led by Miss Bright and Mr Mitchell, the trip gave students the opportunity to develop new skills while experiencing a unique and active environment beyond the classroom.

6 for 6 Leadership Training Begins!
Carmel College is celebrating the dedication and leadership of its students, as Year 11 pupils—soon to become Year 12—returned to college to take part in safeguarding and peer mentoring training. Giving up part of their well-earned break following GCSE exams, the students demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting others and contributing to the college community.
Strong Performances from Carmel at BHCET Netball Tournament
Carmel College students enjoyed a successful day at the annual BHCET Netball Tournament on Thursday 18 June, hosted by The English Martyrs School in Hartlepool. Competing in both U13 and U15 tournaments, Carmel teams displayed excellent skill, teamwork and determination against strong competition from across the Trust.
Double Trouble at Darts Club!
There must be something special in the air in Mr Crossley’s lab, because we’ve had not one—but TWO incredible maximum scores of 180! A huge congratulations to Vincent and Mr Hope, who both hit the magical 180 and have secured their place in Carmel Darts Club history! What an amazing achievement!
Carmel Crowned Trust Champions at Athletics Championships 2026
Carmel College is celebrating a remarkable achievement after being named Overall Trust Champions 2026 at the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust Athletics Championships, held at Middlesbrough Sports Village. The event brought together students from across the Trust, including Our Lady and St Bede Catholic Academy, St Michael’s Catholic Academy, St John’s Catholic School & Sixth Form College, and English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College, for a day of sport, community and shared values.

From Perth to Darlo – Welcome Back to Carmel!
We are delighted to once again welcome teaching students from The University of Notre Dame Australia, who have travelled all the way from Perth, Western Australia, to continue their teaching practice and experience the English education system. This year, we are pleased to introduce Miss Therese Topliss, who specialises in English, Drama and RE, and Miss Laura Jenkins, whose specialisms are Geography and History.
