Carmel College is incredibly proud to announce that our Senior Choir has been officially named North East Choir of the Year 2026. This fantastic achievement follows months of rehearsals, dedication, and commitment from our talented singers, and their hard work truly shone on stage. Their dynamic &Juliet medley captivated the audience and impressed the judges, who praised the choir’s confident presence, expressive performance, and exceptional vocal balance.
Today has been a remarkable celebration not just for Carmel College, but for our wider Trust community. We are delighted to share that St. Bede’s Catholic Primary School was crowned Primary School Choir of the Year earlier this morning. Two Catholic schools, both part of the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, and both from Darlington, taking home top awards on the same day is an incredible moment for our local Catholic choral community.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported our students throughout this journey – families, staff, friends, and all who have encouraged the choir along the way. Every singer gave their absolute best, from the first note to the final chord, and we could not be prouder of what they have achieved together.
