Carmel College is celebrating a fantastic outdoor learning experience, as Year 10 Sports Studies students enjoyed an exciting kayaking session on the River Tees.

Led by Miss Bright and Mr Mitchell, the trip gave students the opportunity to develop new skills while experiencing a unique and active environment beyond the classroom.

Building Skills on the Water

Throughout the day, students worked on mastering paddling techniques and learning how to navigate the water with increasing confidence. The session encouraged them to:

  • Develop coordination and physical skills
  • Build confidence in a new activity
  • Take on challenges outside their comfort zones

It was clear to see students embracing every aspect of the experience with enthusiasm and determination.

Teamwork, Leadership and Resilience

The kayaking trip also provided valuable opportunities for students to grow personally. Along the way, they demonstrated:

  • Strong teamwork and support for one another
  • Leadership skills in a practical setting
  • Resilience when facing new challenges

These qualities were evident throughout the day, contributing to a positive and successful experience for all involved.

Well done to all the Year 10 students for making the most of this fantastic opportunity and creating a memorable day on the River Tees!
