The Carmel College Politics Club enjoyed an unforgettable day in London, where students from Year 9 to Year 13 had the chance to experience UK democracy in action. The trip offered a rare opportunity to step beyond the classroom and into the real world of political decision‑making, leadership, and national debate.

From the moment they arrived in the capital, students were immersed in the sights and atmosphere of British politics. Walking through the same streets and spaces used by political leaders helped them connect their studies to real‑life institutions and events. The excitement and curiosity were clear as they explored some of London’s most iconic political landmarks.

The highlight of the day was an inspiring visit to the Houses of Parliament. Inside this historic building, students gained a deeper understanding of how laws are shaped, how debates unfold, and how elected representatives give voice to the public. Seeing the legislative process up close brought their learning to life in a powerful and memorable way.

Throughout the trip, students engaged in thoughtful discussions, asked insightful questions, and reflected on the importance of active citizenship. The experience encouraged them to think critically about representation, democracy, and the role young people can play in shaping the future of the country.

It was a fantastic day filled with curiosity, debate, and real‑world learning. The visit served as a strong reminder of why political education matters and how opportunities like this can inspire the next generation of informed, confident, and engaged citizens at Carmel College.
