GREAT SPORTING WEEKEND FOR CARMEL!
Alex Boyer (7E) won the Under 12 British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace representing Carmel College at the weekend. Along with India Pentland winning the English Schools’ Cross-Country on Saturday, that means Carmel had two national schools champions crowned over the weekend. I guess that doesn’t happen very often!
Alex was lying 11th after the swim (50m Free 31.84 seconds) but the points totals were very tight on the leader board, so it was all down to the run. He then managed to produce a storming 800m on the track (2.28.10 taking five seconds off his personal best), finishing third on the run and securing enough points to win the overall combined swim/run title.
This repeats his win as an Under 10 when he represented Holy Family School.
